‘Joyful Flowers’ is a unique piece of artwork designed and made by Abbienne.
Cotton batiks & Lace! Each block has been made individually using ‘Pile & Plunder’ Machine Reverse Applique. The blocks are each A3 in size with sashings and borders added in a traditional construction. The sashings all have hand painted lace attached by hand within them. The finished quilt top has been layered with a cotton batting then hand quilted and embellished.
The basic colour used is black to enhance the bright tones of the hand dyed batiks, some of which I have dyed. A unique item, if only because each piece of batik fabric has it’s own color properties, never to be repeated……that, and I doubt even I could repeat exactly the many hours of work within it!
Use your own favourite fabrics to make yours, scrap & stash or buy??
