Antique ‘Feed-Sack’ quilt. 65″ x 74″ approx
Hand made from sack fabric including an area that shows the printing on the sack. Any bits of fabric have been saved and stitched together in a fairly random pattern. Its hand made & quilted. Would have been made about 1830-1860.
The quilt has obviously been loved long before Abbie brought it from American over 20 years ago. It shows lots of areas of wear and tear, this has been left as it is to ensure its as original as possible.
It has been cleaned and is ready for a new home. Its not suitable for use but to be appreciated for its authenticity.
A fabulous example of how our hobby started out of necessity. We are so spoilt with the fabrics.threads battings that we can choose form today.
